A new era of electric vehicles: Charging stations for parking lots in corporate properties – required by law, eParking helps!

As the popularity of electric vehicles increases, so does the need for charging infrastructure. A new law on equipping buildings with electric vehicle charging points has come into force in stages, covering both new and existing non-residential buildings. The aim is to ensure that electric vehicle drivers have sufficient charging options everywhere.

What does the law mean in practice?

In new buildings and buildings undergoing extensive renovation:

  • Parking areas with 11–50 parking spaces must have at least one 3.7–22 kW charging point or one charging point over 22 kW.

  • Parking areas with 51–100 parking spaces must have at least two 3.7–22 kW charging points or one charging point over 22 kW.

  • Parking areas with more than 100 parking spaces must have at least three charging points of 3.7–22 kW or one charging point of more than 22 kW.

  • Parking areas with 11–30 parking spaces must have charging points available in at least 50% of the parking spaces.

  • Parking areas with more than 30 parking spaces must have charging points available in at least 20% (at least 15) of the parking spaces.

In existing buildings:

If there are more than 20 parking spaces in a building, at least one charging point must be installed there by December 31, 2024 at the latest.
