From Kemijärvi Vilnius - We doubled the number of equipment per year

The year 2020 has been anything but pleasant due to the general world situation. The global pandemic has made many attempts to change their operating model. Depending on the industry, change has been challenging or meaningful.

One thing that the prevailing world situation has not seemed to influence is the electrification of traffic. An electronic traffic situation report shows that by the end of September, there was 47,921 downloadable vehicles in Finland, with an increase of more than 90 % per year. The market share of new vehicles 23 % was a record reading. The direction of electrification of traffic seems to be clear. As a company providing digital download and parking services for us, one new rechargeable vehicle will potentially bring up to two new customers: a housing association and a company parking lot.

Studies have shown that electric car chargers want to charge their car at home and at work where the car is standing in the park anyway. As a rule, slow charging in these destinations is sufficient.

Today, as I write this text, we have 19200 options to download an electric car. Of these, about 75 % are located in private or limited car parks, the remaining 25 % at services, such as shopping centers. The northernmost chargers are located in Kemijärvi, the southernmost Vilnius, the westernest in Uusikaupunki and the easternest in Joensuu.

Our number of users has grown steadily, being around 110,000 at the time of writing. Eparking is still the cheapest mobile payment method to pay street parking, with the feature of the additional service offered to our users. Perhaps there are sometimes other services on the map of the Eparking application, in addition to charging electric cars and paying parking.

As the year is coming to an end, it is probably time to thank our customers for the past year. In addition, I would also like to thank our partners and of course my own colleagues. You are all valuable work and are professionals in your work.

Wishing a peaceful Christmas and successful New Year,
Antti Hiekkanen, Operational Director
