Doubled – or actually tripla
eParking.fi has been selected to operate for the upcoming parking facility Tripla Pasila Tripla is a three-block complex that includes the Mall of Tripla , the new Pasila station, a hotel, offices and apartments. The five-story parking facility has approximately 2,500 parking spaces, of which just under 300 are equipped with electric car charging facilities. This is reportedly the site with the most charging points in Europe. The charging devices will be supplied by Satmatic Oy from Ulvila.
Collecting user data plays a big role in such large sites. “It is essential to know how to size and price different charging needs so that the optimized charging time is as close as possible to the parking time,” says Antti Hiekkanen . User data from such large charging fields has been received since September 2018 from the Kalasatama shopping center REDI , which has 238 charging points. Almost 29 megawatt hours have been charged at REDI during the first eight months, and there have been approximately 7,200 charging events.
eParking.fi is a service from Tampere-based IGL-Technologies Oy for operating parking and charging events. IGL-Technologies Oy focuses particularly on charging solutions for properties and charging during parking. The company collaborates with, among others, the University of Dortmund. The university uses large amounts of data to study the relationship between different parking and charging needs in order to better offer customers different and efficient charging services. However, slow charging is often sufficient for cars that need to be charged, as the average car is driven about 50 kilometers per day. “If a car is parked for eight hours, it makes no sense to fully charge it in two hours,” Hiekkanen sums up.
According to the Finnish Technology Industries, there were 18,522 rechargeable cars in Finland at the end of March 2019, of which 85% were rechargeable hybrids.
138 11 kW and 152 3.6 kW dynamic charging stations were installed in the Triplashopping center.
