Instructions for parking permits from the City of Tampere

This page provides instructions for applying for and paying for parking permits in the City of Tampere. More detailed information about Tampere's parking areas, permit conditions and frequently asked questions can be found the tampere.fi website.

Parking permits

The following parking permits are in use in Tampere:

  • Resident parking permit

  • Guest parking permit (areas F, G, H, J, K and L)

  • Business parking permit

  • Business parking permit Z

  • Commuter parking permit (areas F, G, H, J, K and L)

  • Parking permit for shared use cars

  • Parking permit for home care and home care support services

  • Port parking permit S 1 (10)

A vehicle for which a parking permit has been obtained may deviate from a parking prohibition, restriction or fee indicated by a traffic sign, if the additional plate allows it. However, the permit does not guarantee a parking space, but only entitles you to park in places where parking prohibitions are accompanied by an additional plate. The permit is only valid in separately marked places.

Resident parking permit

a person over the age of 15 living in the resident parking area ( see the areas on the map ) as a resident ).

  • The permit can be issued for a passenger car, van, moped, special vehicle weighing up to 3,500 kg, or motorcycle. If the vehicle is not actually in use on the road, the permit is not valid.

  • Residents are allowed to redeem one (1) parking permit.

  • A maximum of two (2) registration numbers may be attached to one resident parking permit at a time.

  • A parking permit entitles you to park only one (1) vehicle at a time.

  • A parking pass can be redeemed for 1-12 months.

  • First, apply for a parking permit. This application ensures that you live in an area where residents are eligible for a city resident parking permit.

    [[ ol ]] Open the eParking application. | Open “Private agreement areas” from the menu. | Select “Submit application”. | Enter your address or “Tampere, Finland” in the search field. | Select “Tampere city parking” from the drop-down menu and press “Continue”. | Select “Resident parking” from the list and press “Log in - Suomi.fi”. | Identify yourself with the identification method of your choice. | The system recognizes your right to a resident parking permit based on your address. Your application will be approved immediately if your address is in an area that entitles you to a resident parking permit. | Select “Return to homepage”.

    Once your application has been approved, apply for a parking permit.

    [[ ol ]] Open the eParking application. | Select the calendar icon at the bottom of the map view. | Enter your address in the search field. The map will move to the address you entered. | The map shows an area marked in blue where you can apply for a parking permit. | Move the cursor over the blue area and you will see the information for the area (for example, “Tampere J area”). You will also see the number of free resident parking spaces (for example, 200/10000). | Press “Make a new reservation”. | Select your parking space from the list (Unnamed space). | Press “Next”. | Select the duration of the agreement in months. | Fill in your car registration number and check that it is correct. | Select “Next”. | Check the information and accept the terms of use. | Press “Confirm”. | Pay for your permit as soon as possible. The parking permit is only valid when it has been paid for.


Guest parking permit

Guest parking permits are available in parking areas F, G, H, J, K and L ( see map for areas ). In other areas, guests can park in four (4) hour or more on-street parking lots or parking garages within a short walk.

  • A guest parking permit can be redeemed by a resident of the resident parking permit areas F, G, H, J, K and L.

  • A permit can be granted for a passenger car, van, moped, or special vehicle weighing up to 3,500 kg or a motorcycle.

  • The permit is associated with one (1) registration number.

  • The visitor permit is valid for 24 hours.

  • Residents can redeem one guest parking permit per day.

  • [[ ol ]] Open the eParking application. | Change the map view on the home page to the short-term parking view by pressing the P icon on the edge of the map. | Enter your address in the search field or locate your location using the location icon. | The map shows the area on a blue background where you can apply for a guest parking permit. Move the cursor to the blue area. | The application will tell you the name of the area (for example, F-area). Press “Select”. | Select the correct registration number from the list or add a new registration number from “+Add vehicle”. | Specify the duration of the paid parking. The duration can be a maximum of one (1) day. | Check when the parking ends. | The price of guest parking is always €5/day. | Pay for the guest parking permit in any way you wish.

Business parking permit

A business parking permit can be redeemed by a company, entrepreneur or public entity operating ( see the areas on the map ) a company ).

  • The permit may be granted for a passenger car or van, a moped or a special vehicle weighing up to 3,500 kg or a motorcycle used in connection with the company's operations. If the vehicle is not actually in use, the permit is not valid. The permit is not granted for business trips only.

  • Companies have the opportunity to redeem a maximum of ten (10) permits per year.

  • A maximum of three (3) registration numbers may be attached to a permit at a time.

  • A parking permit entitles you to park only one (1) vehicle at a time.

  • The permit can be redeemed for 1 - 12 months at a time.

  • First, apply for a license. 

    1. Open the eParking app.

    2. Open “Private Agreement Areas” from the menu.

    3. Select "Send application".

    4. Enter your address or “Tampere, Finland” in the search field.

    5. Select “Tampere City Parking” from the drop-down menu and press “Continue”.

    6. Select “Corporate Parking” from the list.

    7. Enter your company address and name.

    8. Make sure the information is correct. 

    9. Submit your application. The administrator will check if you have rights to this contract area. After verification, you will receive a confirmation email.


    Once your application has been approved, apply for a parking permit.

    1. Open the eParking app.

    1. Select the calendar icon at the bottom of the map view. 

    2. Enter your business address in the search field. The map will move to the address you entered.

    3. The map shows the area outlined in blue where you can apply for a parking permit.

    4. Move the cursor over the blue area and press “Select”.

    5. Choose your parking place from the list (Unnamed place). 

    6. Press “Next”.

    7. Choose the duration of the contract.

    8. Fill in your car's registration number and check that it is correct. 

    9. Select “Next”.

    10. Check the information and accept the terms of use. 

    11. Press “Confirm”. 

Business parking permit Z

a company, entrepreneur or public entity (hereinafter referred to as the “company”) operating in the AL business parking area ( see the area on the map )

  • The conditions of the permit are otherwise the same as those of a business parking permit, but the Z permit allows parking with all parking codes AL and in the city center in places permitted with a Z code.

  • The permit is valid for one year at a time.

  • A permit may also be granted, at the city's discretion, for professional nursing and care work and their support services.

  • Z permits are issued by the City of Tampere. If you need a Z permit, please contact the City of Tampere customer service.

Commuting parking permit

Commuter parking permits are available in areas with parking codes F, G, H, J, K and L ( see areas on the map ) . In other areas, commuter parking is available in street parking lots for more than four (4) hours within a short walk, as well as in parking garages.

  • A commuter parking permit can be redeemed by a person who works in the residential parking area F, G, H, J, K and L.

  • A permit can be granted for a passenger car, van, moped, or special vehicle weighing up to 3,500 kg or a motorcycle.

  • A maximum of two (2) registration numbers may be attached to one commuter parking permit.

  • A parking permit entitles you to park only one vehicle at a time.

  • A parking pass can be redeemed for 1 month at a time.

  • First, apply for a license. 

    1. Open the eParking app.

    2. Open “Private Agreement Areas” from the menu.

    3. Select "Send application".

    4. Enter your workplace address or “Tampere, Finland” in the search field.

    5. Select “Tampere City Parking” from the drop-down menu and press “Continue”.

    6. Select “Commuting parking” from the list.

    7. Enter your company address and name.

    8. Make sure the information is correct and press “Submit”.

    9. Your information will be reviewed, and you will receive a confirmation email when your application has been approved.


    Once your application has been approved, apply for a parking permit.

    1. Open the eParking app.

    2. Select the calendar icon at the bottom of the map view. 

    3. Enter your business address in the search field. The map will move to the address you entered.

    4. The map shows the area outlined in blue where you can apply for a parking permit.

    5. Move the cursor over the blue area and press “Select”.

    6. Choose your parking place from the list (Unnamed place). 

    7. Press “Next”.

    8. Choose the duration of the contract.

    9. Fill in your car's registration number and check that it is correct. 

    10. Select “Next”.

    11. Check the information and accept the terms of use. 

    12. Press “Confirm”. 

    13. Pay what you promised as soon as possible. The parking permit is only valid after it has been paid.

Parking permit for shared use cars

The City of Tampere has a parking permit Z for shared use cars ( see areas on the map ) .

The permit entitles you to park in paid and time-limited parking spaces in the city's AL residential and business parking areas, where parking permitted with a residential or business parking permit is indicated by a traffic sign. In addition, the parking right covers spaces designated for shared use cars and designated with a Z symbol.

A Z permit can be obtained by a company that focuses on car sharing in its business and meets the conditions. The Z permit is valid until further notice and is free of charge. More detailed conditions for granting the permit and the application procedure, as well as permitted parking areas, are described in the appendices below.

    1. Send the PDF instructions to the City of Tampere.

    2. Please notify the city if you want to make changes to the vehicles presented in the application.

Parking permit for home care and home care support services

The permit can be obtained by a company, community or public entity whose services include professional care and nursing work performed in the customer's home. The service must be organized by the Pirkanmaa Welfare Area and the work tasks must be regular and long-term. The permit is not granted for support services, such as cleaning, security or catering services. A business parking permit Z is required for support services.

  • A maximum of three (3) registration numbers may be attached to a permit at a time.

  • A parking permit entitles you to park only one vehicle at a time.

  • The permit can be redeemed for 1-12 months at a time.

  • Apply for a permit by filling out the application.

    1. The permit applicant must fill out the application form found on the city's parking permit website and send it by email to tampereenpalvelupiste@tampere.fi .

    2. Once the application has been processed, the decision will be sent to the email address provided by the applicant.


    Once the City of Tampere has approved your Home Care parking permit application, apply for the permit via eParking.

    1. Open the eParking app.

    2. Open “Private Agreement Areas” from the menu.

    3. Select "Send application".

    4. Type “Tampere, Finland” in the address field.

    5. Search for “Tampere Home Care Parking Permit” from the “Select a company” drop-down menu and press “Continue”.

    6. Select your group from the drop-down menu. For home care workers, the group is “Pirha home care”

    7. Press “Next”.

    8. Check that the information is correct. 

    9. Submit your application.


    Once your application has been approved, apply for a parking permit.

    1. Open the eParking app.

    2. Select the calendar icon at the bottom of the map view. 

    3. Enter your business address in the search field. The map will move to the address you entered.

    4. The map shows the area outlined in blue where you can apply for a parking permit.

    5. Move the cursor over the blue area and press “Select”.

    6. Choose your parking place from the list (Unnamed place). 

    7. Press “Next”.

    8. Choose the duration of the contract.

    9. Fill in your car's registration number and check that it is correct. 

    10. Select “Next”.

    11. Check the information and accept the terms of use. 

    12. Press “Confirm”. 

    13. Pay what you promised as soon as possible. The parking permit is only valid after it has been paid.

Port parking permit S

You do not need a separate permit identifier (e.g. sticker or tag) when parking in the port areas in areas separately indicated by traffic signs. A valid electronic parking permit entitles you to park. Parking control is based on the vehicle information entered into the system (registration number). Only one vehicle is active in the system at a time. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the vehicle being parked is active in the reservation information.   • You can apply for a parking permit using the eParking application. 

    1. Open the app and select "Menu" in the bottom left corner and select "Private Agreement Areas". 

    2. Press "Submit application". If you have allowed location data, the app will show you contract areas near your location where you can apply for access.

    3. Select a company from the drop-down menu. For port parking, use "Tampere City Port Parking".

    4. Press "Continue".

    5. Select your correct user group from the drop-down menu (e.g. S2 Naistenlahti).

    6. Press "Next" and check that the information is correct. 

    7. Submit your application. 

    The processing time is usually 1-5 business days, as most applications are reviewed manually. You will receive an email notification when your application has been processed. You can also view your submitted applications on the My Applications page under "Private Agreement Areas".

    Once your application for a parking space in the contract area has been approved, you will be able to make a reservation for the desired port parking area in the eParking application. 

    1. Press the calendar icon in the lower right corner of the home page, which will change the view in the app to a contract parking map.

    2. You can search for the desired contract area in the search field above. You can also locate yourself by pressing the location button below the search field.

    3. The contract area for which you have an approved use permit application is shown in blue on the map.

    4. Move the cursor over the area and press "Select".

    5. Select your parking space from the drop-down menu.

    6. Select the desired location type.

    7. Select your seat number and press “Next”.

    8. You can choose the start month and desired duration of your contract, as well as the billing interval.

    9. Enter your registration number.

    10. Select the service you want.

    11. Check that the information is correct.

    12. Read the terms of use and accept them.

    13. Confirm your reservation. 

    Now your first possible invoice has been generated, and the parking permit is valid after it is paid.
