Old heating devices replaced with remote-controlled eTolps

Ruoholahden Pysäköinti Oy has managed a huge complex with various parking garages and outdoor parking areas throughout the Ruoholahti area. Residents of the area and employees of companies in the area have previously reserved parking spaces through Ruoholahden Pysäköinti. The renovation of the parking areas began when residents began to ask about charging options for electric cars. After some consideration, Ruoholahden Pysäköinti decided to replace all the old heating posts in the parking areas and garages with smart, remotely controlled ePole posts that could also charge electric cars. At the same time, Ruoholahden Pysäköinti considered easier solutions for renting and managing parking spaces – after all, they caused a considerable amount of work for the company’s staff.

In connection with the renewal and installation of the poles, Ruoholahden Pysäköinti decided to take over the remote control of the poles, the reservation of parking spaces and lease agreements, as well as the billing of users for electricity and parking from eParking. In addition, Ruoholahden Pysäköinti wanted to lighten the workload of its staff and make it easier to issue and maintain parking permits. eParking is an excellent solution for large and complex entities like Ruoholahden Pysäköinti, as it can be easily customized to the needs of any site. The customer can choose from eParking's wide range of services the solutions that suit their own needs. With eParking, the workload of the site's staff is significantly reduced, as the management of parking spaces is transferred to eParking.

All payment transactions take place in one place, i.e. in the eParking system

The rental of parking spaces in the Ruoholahti area is based on the resident's address. When applying for a parking space, the resident enters their address into the eParking system. If the resident's address matches the Ruoholahti area, the system grants a permit. The automatic system significantly reduces the work involved in allocating parking spaces and simplifies the stages of renting parking spaces and ePole.

Charging and heating electricity used by residents and employees of companies in the Ruoholahti area can be conveniently billed in eParking. Payments for heating electricity have previously been included in parking space rents, but estimating electricity consumption has been difficult. Now, eTolppa is used via the eParking application. eTolppa measures the amount of electricity used by the user and stores the data in the eParking service, which automatically creates an invoice for the user. The invoice is sent to the user according to the billing interval they have chosen. In addition, the resident can pay the rent for their parking space at the same time, as the invoice for the rent is also generated in the eParking system. Ruoholahten Pysäköinti decides the prices for heating and charging electricity and parking space rents itself.

Expenses and abuses under control

eParking and eTolpat also reduce costs and abuse related to the posts. Previously, Ruoholahden Pysäköinti had to collect rental deposits from parking spaces to cover costs for lost keys to the posts. The new eTolpat in the area do not have keys that could be lost. Instead, the posts have opening handles and a locked keypad that can be opened via the eParking application. The posts can therefore only be used by those who have a parking permit and a valid rental agreement for the parking space and eTolpat in the eParking system.

Parking space and e-Pole rentals were transferred to eParking in early October 2022. The new e-Pole installations were completed well before the start of the heating season, so users can immediately get acquainted with the use of e-Pole. The area also has more efficient electric car charging stations available for rent for those who need them.

Overall, when a resident implements eParking, they do not need two different operators for parking and parking area charging stations, which significantly reduces costs. Everything is handled with one system – eParking!
