Kuntokatu 3: New public high-performance chargers for electric vehicles in Tampere

Two electric cars charging at two different DC high-power charging stations in the TAMK courtyard

eParking has opened its first charging station in Tampere's Kauppi district. Initially, the station will have four 180kW charging points.

Two high-power chargers will be installed in the courtyard of Tampere University of Applied Sciences, and the chargers will have a total of four charging sockets. The high-power chargers to be installed are EVBox Troniq Modular chargers, with a total charging power of 360 kW, and a single vehicle can be charged with a maximum of 180 kW. The chargers can charge a total of four electric vehicles simultaneously. Charging can be paid for using the eParking application, and the high-power chargers will also have the much-awaited card payment feature. The charging price will be €0.30/kWh during the eParking opening campaign until 31 October.

Thousands of motorists travel through the area every day, visiting the hospital and the university of applied sciences, as well as using other services in the area. Thanks to the high-power chargers, electric car drivers from further afield can also fully charge their cars while they are shopping for groceries and then return home. "We are very excited to be able to offer users of Tampere's new high-power chargers the opportunity to pay for their charging easily and quickly with the eParking app. This project strengthens eParking's position as the leading provider of charging services in Finland," Marku continues.

The new high-power chargers also serve taxi drivers who drive a lot in the hospital area, as the high-power charger can charge an electric car battery almost fully in 15 minutes at best. In addition, taxi drivers have the option of corporate invoicing in eParking, which further speeds up the charging of taxi drivers' electric cars with high-power chargers.

UTU Oy also considers the project a success. "It is great to be involved with Tampereen Vera and IGL in promoting the growth of electric traffic in an active traffic location in Tampere. The demand for high-power chargers is growing all the time, and we at UTU have already delivered and installed fast charging stations of various powers in several locations around Finland. Only by enabling an easy and fast charging experience on the road can the number of electric car drivers increase in the desired way," says Anu Rantala .

The high-power chargers will be supplied by UTU Oy , and Vera from Tampere .
